Hi All, Have any of you been burned? I was burned by a sparkler on the Fourth of July when I was six. It tipped over and fell onto my hand. The fire on the top, I mean. Man, did it hurt! Lol! So stories from you guys? Caitlin
When I was little I snuck out of bed over to my sister's room and stepped on her bottle warmer which as you can guess was turned on. Man it hurt and I had to have my foot in cold water and wrapped for a few days. I also had a severe sunburn once.

Yup, a few years ago while pouring a glass of coffee into my mug. I missed the cup and it hit my hand. And it blistered a tiny bit. I put it under cold water then used ice and the swelling and pain went away.
Lol I didnt' even think of sunburns! One time I was at the lake with my friend and we went tubing all day for liek five hours. The backs of my legs got all sunburned and they hurt for like a week whenever i touched them or stood or bent them. Hehehe. But it didn't spoil the trip; we had a blast, we just put on more sunblock the next day! Oh and once I accidentally touched my sister's curling iron which was on. It reeeally hurt, but luckily it was just for a second. Now I never reach over onto her side of the sink. And if I do, it's from the counter forward, not from above, groping wildly! Lol! And once I touched a hairdryer that had just been turned off and that hurt. Lol! Ouch. All your guys' tales of burns are making me cringe lol. Caitlin
Yup I get sunburned too. It doesn't take much either. This is why I don't tan. One of my friends has a bald spot on his head and he got sunburned right on that spot and I felt so bad because he used my shampoo that afternoon to wash his hair and it stung like heck. He was screaming in pain, that bad. But when we saw the burn it wasn't as bad, just the chemicals in the shampoo was what made it sting.
Ooh ouch, ouch... that would hurt, just like when you cut your hand and yuou use that anti bacterial stuff on it, that hurts in the same w3ay, chemical reacting type deal. Ouwhwhw ...
Well being a natural redhead, I've had some pretty bad Sunburns. and I've touched a coffee pot and got blisters and I burned myself on my moms ciggarette a few times when I was younger.
Oooh, I've heard cigarette burns hurt really badly!!! Ouwhwhwch...
yep, I had sunburn on my choulders, legs and the upper part of my chest this year cause I was at dorney park during the summer.
when I was little, I burned my arm on the iron. and had a bad sunburn on my back when I was about 6. and I don't tan, but I get red like a tomato.
Ouch!!! I've only gotten subrned on my face and legs, mostly under my eyes ... I always get raccoon eyes from my glasses...Well I used to until I lost my glasses heehhe.

Well I've been burnt quite badly twice. The first burn happened when I went to Majorca with my family nearly 8 years ago in June, and we were always sat on the terrace near our villa in the sun. I developed this rash all over my chin and my cheeks, which we think was probably a nasty case of sunburn. It was very itchy and dry and most of the spots just peeled off with a matter of days. It'd almost cleared up by the time we flew home again. The second incident happened when I was ironing my school skirts one weekend at school, ready for Monday morning. I reached over to pick the iron up after straightening the skirt on the ironing board and I felt a sharp burning sort of pain on my wrist. I'd reached too far, lowered my hand towards where I thought the iron wasand caught my wrist on the hotplate underneath! ouwhwhwhwhwhwhwhwhwhwhwch! I grabbed the skirt, shot straight upstairs and shoved my wrist under the cold tap in our bedroom for about 20 minutes, which I thought might sort itout. However, later, I realised it'd actually burned through a lot of the skin and had drawn quite a bit of blood. I let the air get to it overnight to help the healing process till the next morning when I wasn't really thinking about it. At lunchtime however, I rolled back my jumper and shirt sleeves to check how it was healing up, and there was a load of blood and an inch-longgash on my wrist and all this loose burnt skin. It was off to Surgery, just down the hall for me, and the school nurse dressed it beautifully. It was gone within about a week.
Ooo dang! That stinks. That's good that was taken care of right away. *smiles* Last year, I got burned on an iron also. Not nearly as bad, but it took about a second for me to move my arm away. I accidentally touched it, (not knowing it was there), and although I felt my arm hit it, I didn't move away for litterally about a second or two. I honestly didn't feel anything at the moment, but when I moved away, I realized I had burned myself on the iron. (I don't remember what I did for it; I don't think I did anything to it. But it went away a few days to a week later, so I don't think it made a blister or at least not a bad one.
Yeah, burns from an iron or a woodstove etc can be a real drag! Getting burned by a cigarette or a joint isn't bad, assuming you get it off of you really quickly...
I've burned my finger on the stove, and touched a hot iron on accident. A burn is possibly the most painful injury anyone could sustain. I always watch Discovery Health, and I saw this one story about a girl who was lighting a keroseen lamp and her sleeve caught fire. She had to have thirteen surgeries in one year to help her close her eyes and mouth properly again. What happens is, if you've burned yourself bad enough, the skin around it loses its ability to stretch and therefore won't heal nearly as well. Only if there's a healthy bed of blood vessils to nourish the tissues, will it heal. It won't be gone completely. Scars from injuries such as these last a lifetime. They can be reduced and less noticeable with surgery, I think, but they'll never fade entirely. That's if you've had a nasty third-degree burn, but if it's something very small and on the surface, you'll be okay. It'll hurt like crazy, but you'll live.
A few years ago I got sun burned on the back of my neck in France. When I was five years old I touch the iron and burned my hand. A friend of mine recently burned her hand on a cigarette.
I've only had two quite nasty burning experiences. One was when I was ironing my School skirts ready for Monday morning when |I was away at Secondary School. I reached too far to find the handle of the iron and caught my wrist on the hotplate. Ouw'w'w'w'w'w'chy! I grabbed the ironed skirts, put them on their hangers and rushed straight upstairs where I spent at least a whole 20 minutes with my wrist under the cold tap. By Monday however, it still hadn't stopped niggling and stinging, so at lunchtime I went in the little girls, room and pulled back the sleeve of my blouse. My wrist was just a horrible, burnt, bloody mess, Ew'w'w'w yuck. Luckily Surgery was just down the corridor from the ladies, so Mrs. Faye, the nicer of the two school nurses, put a dressing on it straight away. Another time I got sunburnt quite badly all over my face when I was in Majorca with the family. They thought I was allergic to sunblock or I had Eczema, caused by the sunblock, so we rubbed all sorts of creams in to it, but it felt rather like sunburn and it was just all thesde little spots and loads of dry skin over my cheeks, round my eyes and under my chin, so in the end, everyone put it down to a very bad case of sunburn.
I have this burn on one of my nuckles and I can't seem to get rid of it it's been there for ages.
Wow, someone resurrected this topic! LOL. I wouldn't have done it, but now that someone has, I'll answer. Grin.
The worst burn I ever had occfurred in 1994. I was in the hospital, and they were giving me potassium through an IV. Oh man, does that hurt! It's like liquid fire going up your arm. At one point, the needle came out of the vein, and the potassium made a burn the size of a silver dollar coin on the back of my hand. Man did that hurt! I still have a scar from that, but thankfully it's a small scar. I also have some scars from where the needle came out of the vein as I was getting chemotherapy, when I was a baby. Not fun!
Ouch! At least you're okay now.
